Utah Honor Flight
SALT LAKE CITY—Governor Gary Herbert will address a group of 25 WWII/Korea/Vietnam Veterans during a send-off ceremony at 6:00 a.m. on May 25, at the Utah National Guard Readiness Center before they depart on a Utah Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice.
Following the ceremony, the Patriot Guard Riders of Utah will escort the group to the airport. Military liaisons from the Utah Air National Guard, as well as members of the Utah Pipe Band will accompany the veterans to their gate where they will be entertained prior to their departure.
The send-off event will be closed to the public. Media members wishing to attend the ceremony should arrive at 5:30 a.m. at the Readiness Center located at 1640 N. 2200 W. Salt Lake City.
On May 27, the veterans and their guardians will return to a welcome home celebration held at the Utah National Guard Readiness Center. Members of the public are invited to attend the event and should arrive at the readiness center no later than 6:45 p.m.
The Patriot Guard Riders of Utah will escort the group from the airport to a Hero’s Welcome Home where the Veterans will be presented a photo book and an American flag.
