Honoring Steve Young
A native of Salt Lake City and Great-Great-Great grandson of Brigham Young, Steve learned to and loves to ski the Utah slopes with his father, Grit. Steve returned in 1980 to play quarterback at BYU and pursue his college degree before embarking on his professional football career. While playing professionally, Steve returned in the off-seasons and earned his law degree in 1994. Following his Pro Football Hall of Fame career, Steve has founded multiple businesses in Utah, while living and serving in the community. He currently has ownership interest in Utah based companies: Beauty Industry Group, PCF Insurance, Better Being, Entrata, and Dentive. He is a founding partner and chairman of the highly successful private equity firm HGGC. Steve continues to maintain a home in Provo.
Steve Has been a Celebrity Ambassador with Children's Miracle Network for almost 40 years, and also Chairman of the Board for his Forever Young Foundation, lifting under-served communities and children all over the world. Steve co-authored the New York Times best-selling book, QB: My Life Behind the Spiral and has just written and published his latest book The Law of Love.
As a collegian, Steve was a consensus All-American and a Heisman trophy runner-up. In 2003 he was inducted into the Academic All-America Hall of Fame. Steve is also an NFL Analyst with ESPN.
Steve was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2005, and his No. 8 was retired by the San Francisco 49ers. He retired as the highest-rated signal-caller in NFL history and was the league's MVP in 1992 and 1994. In all, Steve won three Super Bowl titles, including Super Bowl XXIX when he threw a record six touchdowns and was MVP.
