Piggy backing off the imposter syndrome phenomenon, this forum will focus on finding one's courageous voice, women's leadership development, and empowerment. We are living in one of the most polarized times in our nation's history so the forum will also center authentic allyship within the fight for equity and justice.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Dr. Jennifer Saunders, Dean of the School of Applied Technology & Technical Specialties at Salt Lake Community College

Dr. Jennifer Saunders currently serves as the Dean of the School of Applied Technology & Technical Specialties at Salt Lake Community College. In this role she serves as the leader of SLCC’s Institute of Public Safety and Police Academy; trades and apprenticeship programs; entry-level workforce education programs in IT, healthcare, transportation, and culinary sectors; and English as a Second Language. In addition to her role of Dean, Jennifer is also the Career & Technical Education Director for the College. Jennifer is in her 19th year at the College! She has held several positions at the institution, including Grants Officer, Site Administrator for multiple campuses, and Assistant Vice President of Workforce Training & Continuing Education. Examples of work she has enjoyed being part of while at SLCC include: developing basic computer training for vulnerable populations, specifically refugees; developing industry-specific vocabulary modules to support English Language Learners in their academic and workforce education; advancing access and equity in higher education, particularly for females in non-traditional fields; and, working collaboratively to improve education pathways for adults as they extend their employability past the age of 65. She has nearly 30 years of combined experience in higher education, the government sector, non-profit administration, and corporate philanthropy. Jennifer was raised on a small family farm in Maryland. She is the oldest of 11 children, nine of whom were adopted. This upbringing provided an environment that challenged gender, racial, and differently-abled people stereotypes long before these became significant topics of societal discourse. As a single parent, she raised her son in Utah. She married the love of her life 13 years ago, after “dating” for seven years. Together, their family now includes four adult children, each of whom has well-suited partners, and eight perfect “official” grandchildren ages 10 – 20. (She has several “unofficial” grandkids that enrich their lives, too). Jennifer had to give up her motorcycle riding a few years ago but reports being a passenger in the vehicle her granddaughter drives is nearly as thrilling. Currently, hobbies are centered on supporting and cheering grandkids as they investigate their interests.
