The Salt Lake Chamber will honor Wilford Clyde, Chair of Clyde Companies, with the 44th Giant in our City award on April 27, 2023, at the Grand America Hotel. The award honors those with exceptional and distinguished service, as well as extraordinary professional achievement, and is widely recognized as the most prestigious business award given in Utah.
GIANT IN OUR CITY HONOREE:
Clyde is currently chair of Clyde Companies, Inc., the premier critical infrastructure and construction materials and services provider in the Intermountain West, headquartered in Orem, Utah. He is a lifelong resident and former two-term mayor of Springville. After graduating from BYU in accounting, Clyde began working in the family construction business, Geneva Rock, eventually becoming president.
In 2001, Clyde was named CEO of Clyde Companies Inc. (CCI), and has overseen a time of unprecedented growth in its mission to "Build a Better Community." CCI has expanded to nearly 5,000 employees and close to $2.5 billion in revenue. Clyde Companies' subsidiaries include WW Clyde, Geneva Rock, Sunroc, Sunpro, IHC Scott, Bridgesource, GWC Capital, and Beehive Insurance.
Clyde has served the community in many capacities, including past chair of the Salt Lake Chamber, the Utah State Board of Regents, chair of the Utah Manufacturers Association, president of the Utah Associated General Contractors, chair of the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Board of Trustees of Utah Valley University, and national president of the BYU Cougar Club.

UTAH COMMUNITY BUILDER AWARD HONOREE:
Mary Ann Lee is the Artistic Director of the Tanner Dance Program (TD) and Children?s Dance Theatre (CDT) at the University of Utah, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Modern Dance. She trained with Virginia Tanner and was a member of CDT.
Mary Ann received master?s degrees in dance and French from Mills College and the University of Cincinnati, respectively. She performed professionally with the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company and Moveable Feast Dance Company in San Francisco and with the Contemporary Dance Theatre in Ohio.
Mary Ann was a dance specialist for the National Endowment for the Arts? Artists-in-Schools program and taught throughout the US. She has been an invited guest teacher nationally and internationally. Mary Ann continues to teach at the University of Utah in the departments of Modern Dance, Ballet, and Education, and in the TD Program.
