"OCTAPPELLA" Headlining the KUTV Holiday Pops Concert
This year’s featured guest artists are no strangers to the music scene! The seven members of Octappella originally met while singing in a college musical ensemble. With spirited toe-tappin’ song selections spanning genres and decades, marinated with unique Octa-flavor, OCTAPPELLA has recorded four critically-praised CD’s, won two International Contemporary A Cappella Society awards, two Utah Best of State awards, the Pearl Award recognition, and were featured performers at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. They’ve made hundreds of appearances throughout the nation on television, radio and stage-even motion picture soundtrack. A phenomenal group to hear live, it’s a heck of a lot of Octa-fun for everyone!
The West Valley Symphony of Utah, with music director Donny Gilbert, is well known for their participation in the KUTV Holiday Pops Concert. The 70-piece orchestra performs 5-6 concerts each year. Their most recent concert was presented to a packed house of “Trekkies” at the Utah Cultural Celebrations Center, featuring the music of Star Trek.
Members of the 100-voice Choral Arts Society of Utah volunteer their time and talents to provide quality performances, many of which benefits schools and organizations providing humanitarian services to the local area, including this benefit concert for the KUTV Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.
We wish to thank KUTV 2News, Legacy Retirement Communities, the Sorenson Legacy Foundation and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation for their continued financial support. Funds from the Salt Lake County Zoo Arts & Parks are also used in the presentation of this concert.
