Course Overview
In a world where messages are faster, shorter and constantly competing for your customers’ attention, the ability to write well remains critical to your business’s success. This course will help participants develop essential writing skills that translate to any form of business writing. Learners will receive instruction on grammar, punctuation, sentence composition, organization, clarity and accuracy in written communication.
Participants will achieve clarity, organization, readability and accuracy in written communication, including:
• Intention of message
• Idea organization
• Writing to increase the reader’s understanding
• Importance of tone and avoidance of jargon
• Identifying and properly using parts of speech
• Practicing proper sentence and paragraph structure
• Understanding appropriate use of abbreviations and acronyms
• Recognizing word agreement
• Identifying active vs. passive voice
• Practicing capitalization
• Understanding punctuation
• Practicing email etiquette
