Sweet Success: Growing into Small Businesses!

Ever wondered how a person just like you became a business owner? Maybe you've had an idea and have thought about starting your own business one day.

The Salt Lake Chamber is hosting a luncheon with a panel of successful business owners who are clients of the Women's Business Center. Come enjoy lunch while you listen to their stories, engage in the conversation with questions, and learn how to run a successful business!

About our Presenters

Cindy Johnson

Cynthia (Cindy) Johnson is the owner of Hair Love Salon, a wig store and salon in Salt Lake City. Cynthia's has senrved on the board of the WBC for 3 years.

She is currently finishing her bachelors degree that she started 20 years ago, and has been a volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better program for cancer patients for 10 years. Cynthia is married to a Carpenter and has 4 children. She has been a business owner for 5 years, and a theatrical wig designer for 20 years.  She hasn't figured out what she is going to do when she grows up, but knows that the value of life is in the journey.

Tiffany Young

Tiffany grew up in California and credits her entrepreneurial spirit to her mom and grandmother who both raised their families based off the tenacity that so often accompanies single mothers. This engrained a strong work ethic and a realization that entitlement is a curse. “Working is a privilege that helps me realize my true potential.”  That response has helped her through her college career as well as mothering her triplets.  Upon graduating BYU-Hawaii with a degree in English Literature she owned an Elder Care facility. After the birth of her triplets, post-pregnancy events--both fortunate and unfortunate--lead into the development and current role as CEO at Thin Hair Thick.  She greets each day with her mantra:  The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Sasha Taylor

Sasha Taylor has been a photographer for 26 years. During that time, along with owning her own portrait business and photographing thousands of clients, she was a professor at Salt Lake Community College in the photography department and then went on to develop a School of Photography for a national photographic retailer. She now owns Snap Shop Photo, a portrait studio which began in 2012 and now has two brick and mortar locations.

Kris Rudarmel

Kris Rudarmel is the co-founder/president of the award-winning company, Anchor Water Damage & Restoration. A family owned and operated water damage, mold abatement and carpet cleaning enterprise serving Northern Utah. Since opening the company’s doors in 2005, Kris has led Anchor to multiple awards, including local, national and international recognition.

Catherine Standiford

Catherine Standiford, owner and founder of Cancer Rehabilitation Centers, graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2001 with a degree in Kinesiology. While working at her internship at Rocky Mountain Cancer Rehab in Colorado she knew she wanted to make Cancer Rehab her career.  She moved back to Utah, her home state, and has worked in Cancer and Cardiac Rehabilitation ever since. She has provided cancer rehabilitation since 1999 and continues to work cancer related fatigue and survivorship issues.  Catherine looks forward to her future in providing support to cancer patients and is passionate about helping cancer patients improve their quality of life.
