Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: What Businesses Need to Know Before It Expires in 2025

Join us for the Salt Lake Chamber's webinar featuring Congressman Moore as we dive into the critical provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) set to expire in 2025. The TCJA, enacted in 2017, represented one of the most significant overhauls of the U.S. tax code since the late 1980s. This legislation permanently reduced the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21% and introduced temporary tax relief, including deductions for pass-through income benefiting small businesses, along with increased individual deductions. While these changes were crafted to drive economic growth, the upcoming expiration of many individual tax provisions could present significant impacts for businesses and taxpayers nationwide.

In this webinar, we’re excited to explore these potential changes with a distinguished panel of experts. Congressman Blake Moore will kick off the discussion, sharing insights on his efforts to support Utah’s business community in Washington, D.C. Following him, we’ll hear from Jon Traub, Managing Principal, Tax Policy with Deloitte,
about how the partisan breakdown in Congress and the deficit will shape the debate surrounding the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. To wrap up our webinar, Justin Lumadue from the U.S. Chamber will offer a broader perspective on the Chamber's advocacy for policies that support a pro-growth business environment.

We look forward to a thoughtful discussion with our speakers on what lies ahead for Utah’s businesses and the wider U.S. economy.

Agenda

Congressman Blake Moore, UT-01

Blake Moore was elected Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference in 2023 and has
positioned both himself and Utah in a pivotal leadership role within Congress. Renowned for
his proactive approach to problem-solving, he collaborates with colleagues to deliver results
while steadfastly upholding his conservative principles. Blakes advocates for an aspirational,
pro-growth, and determined conservative agenda tailored to future generations. Blake
currently serves on influential committees, including the powerful Ways & Means Committee,
the pivotal Budget Committee, and the influential Steering Committee. He is dedicated to
supporting Utah's small and local businesses and was recognized with the U.S. Chamber of
Commerce's prestigious "Spirit of Enterprise" award. Blake's legislative prowess is evident,
having been hailed as the most successful freshman Republican member in terms of legislation
passed and earning the title of "Fiscal Hero" from the Committee for a Responsible Federal
Budget. Rooted in Utah's first district with his wife Jane and four boys, Blake balances his
congressional duties by prioritizing family, regularly commuting between Washington and
home to maintain his role as a devoted little league dad. Blake previously worked as both a
consultant for Utah businesses and a foreign service officer.

helping them anticipate legislation and the potential impacts on their businesses.
Jon leads a team that identifies, evaluates and monitors legislative proposals, and interprets
the practical issues surrounding the application of tax proposals on behalf of Deloitte’s clients and that
relays those insights through multiple channels, including weekly newsletters and deeper dive pieces on
key developments.

Representatives, his most recent senior staff position in the U.S. House of Representatives. During his
tenure as Staff Director for the Committee on Ways and Means, Jon was responsible for developing
