Utah Veteran Business Conference 2020 - POSTPONED

CONNECTING VETERAN ENTREPRENEURS AND BUSINESS OWNERS WITH RESOURCES THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE MARKETPLACE

Join the Utah Veteran Owned Business Coalition to learn about what it takes to become a successful Veteran-Owned business, the local and national resources available, and to connect with other entrepreneurs and business owners.

This half day conference is for members of the military, veterans and their family members who are interested in starting or growing their own business.

AGENDA
0830     Registration & Exhibitors
0900     Welcome
0915     Opening Keynote:  ALPHA COFFEE - VETREPRENEURSHIP ISN'T EASY BUT IT'S WORTH IT!
Presented by Carl Churchill, Alpha Coffee

From $17K to $1.2 million in annual sales. Come hear how Carl and Lori Churchill built Alpha Coffee, a successful, military family owned, cause-based coffee business operating here in Utah and their many lessons learned along the way.  They operate an online retail site, wholesale operation, and coffee shops that are projected to earn $2.5 million in sales in 2020. This presentation will provide recommendations based on real world experience that any business owner can use to make their business more successful.

Carl Churchill spent 21 years in the US Army rising from Private to Colonel.  He is a combat veteran with multiple tours and served with 3rd Infantry Div, 9th Infantry Div, 1st Armored Div, and Special Operation Command.  He has an Executive MBA from the University of Utah. Lori is his partner in life and business.  They have both been entrepreneurs prior to co-founding Alpha Coffee on Sept 11th, 2010.  They have been married 30+ years and are the proud parents of Denai, a graduate of the University of Utah, and Trevor, a member of the 19th Special Forces Group in the Utah National Guard and an ROTC Cadet at the University of Utah. Both Denai and Trevor work at Alpha Coffee.

Presented by Robert Spendlove, Zions Bank

The economy in Utah and the United States continues to grow.  The current economic expansion is the longest in US history, but signs of struggles persist.  International weakness has impacted business confidence and corporate spending.  Continued economic strength will depend on the consumer, but will consumers continue to remain confident and continue to spend?

Robert Spendlove is a Senior Vice President and the Economic and Public Policy Officer for Zions Bank. In this capacity he monitors and reports on economic indicators and public policy developments for the bank.  Founded in 1873, Zions Bank is Utah's oldest financial institution and it operates locations in communities throughout the Intermountain West.
