VETERANS’ CELEBRATION of LIGHT
“At this special time when most are celebrating, some of us wish we could go to sleep and not wake up.” anon.
2 until 4 pm Panel discussions with noted experts sharing profound insights and more reasons to Live! 35 Resource providers invited to have tables.
4:30 pm We will assemble in the Rotunda for patriotic speeches from Honorable Samuel D. McVey, 4th District Veterans Treatment Court Judge and Utah County Commissioner Larry Ellertson. These great men are unsung heroes of Utah County Veterans. Dr Scott Hill, head of mental health services at the George Whalen Veterans Hospital, will be our keynote speaker.
5:30 pm We can light the lights, bless the fire, ring the Freedom Bell 22 times (for the 22 daily Vet suicides,) and symbolically push back against the longest night of the year. We return to the Rotunda for a substance free, family friendly, a community drum circle led by Katie Jo Patton Welsh, principal drum leader for the World Congress of Religions, 2015
