WBCUtah Childcare Program Manager

The Women’s Business Center of Utah (WBCUtah) Childcare Program Manager, reporting to the WBCUtah State Director, and in collaboration with Utah Community Builders (UCB) and the Salt Lake Chamber. This role is vital in supporting women-owned childcare businesses in Utah by providing comprehensive entrepreneurial services that enhance efficiency, boost profitability, foster business growth, create jobs, and expand the availability of childcare spots. These efforts will play a key role in addressing Utah’s childcare crisis.
The WBCUtah Childcare Program Manager will lead efforts to support women-owned childcare businesses by engaging community partners and launching a peer-to-peer business accelerator. This program will provide childcare-specific education, one-on-one advising, mentorship, and advocacy, with expert-led modules covering topics like digital literacy, licensing, compliance, leadership, branding, operational efficiency, and financial management. The cohort accelerator, complemented by tailored tools and services, will boost the efficiency, profitability, and growth of these businesses, strengthening Utah’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and workforce.

Key Responsibilities:
Grant Management & Compliance

  • Renew annual SBA WBC Childcare grant, including a budget, work plan with establishing metrics/milestones, and supporting documents.
  • Lead WBCUtah Childcare in achieving annual work plan goals and staying within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant programs and financial requirements and prepare and submit mid-year and end-of-year programmatic and financial reports, including annual economic impact data.
  • Work directly with SBA's Utah District Office DOTR for mid-year and end-of-year in-person reviews and participate in OWBO meetings and training.
Financial Management
  • Contribute to the annual statewide budget and collaborate with the UCB executive director on the cash match plan.
  • Manage a $225K+ annual budget, including sponsorship revenue and program income, approve all expenditures and ensure financial viability.
  • Negotiate and execute contracts with vendors and partners (over $10K requiring three competitive bids).
Operational Management:
  • Oversee program alignment with WBCUtah's statewide mission and oversee the planning, development and execution of childcare-specific advising and training (in-person, virtual, hybrid, online, self-paced)
  • Create, launch and implement a Childcare Business Accelerator and other complimentary services, across the service area.
Marketing & Outreach
  • Build and foster collaborations with local businesses, government agencies, and community organizations.
  • Ensure accurate client program data gathering and management, communications, and organization of program files, including an up-to-date travel log.
  • Support marketing, development and social media strategy and planning to promote and expand WBCUtah and childcare-specific entrepreneurial support.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Prepare, analyze, and provide regular childcare service updates and reports to WBCUtah state director.
  • Serve on committees in the community that align with WBCUtah and/or childcare, representing WBCUtah.
  • Build, develop and support a diverse and engaged advisory board.
Team Support
  • Help set and accomplish WBCUtah statewide strategic goals, priorities and objectives, and participate in special projects as assigned
  • Participate in and provide WBCUtah Childcare updates at weekly, manager and statewide team meetings, and annual offsite retreat.
  • Attend and participate in Salt Lake Chamber weekly Senior Team and monthly All Staff meetings, and assist with the annual Women & Business Conference (Nov) and other Salt Lake Chamber meetings and events.
  • Participate in AWBC training and networking opportunities, including the annual AWBC Leadership Conference.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in delivering and/or managing childcare services or related areas.
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to empowering women, while fostering a culturally competent and inclusive environment for women, minorities, and marginalized communities.
  • Business ownership or nonprofit management experience with a solid understanding of operations, finance, marketing and project management.
  • Proficiency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another second language preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, non-profit management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to utilize technology platforms to improve efficiency and ability to adapt quickly.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.
