Mike Vela has been with HKS 31 years, is a shareholder principal of the firm and responsible for the overall management of the Salt Lake City office. Additionally, Mike coordinates within the Mountain Region (SLC, Phoenix and Denver offices) as well as the entire HKS team of 26 offices worldwide. HKS SLC is a diversified architectural firm with projects in Healthcare, Commercial, Education, Assembly, Ecclesiastical, Hospitality, Residential and Manufacturing sectors. Mike is also the Assembly National Sector leader for HKS. Mike earned a Master's of Architecture at the University of Texas, Arlington, Texas and an undergraduate Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas. Mike is also an Associate Professor at the University of Utah and has taught in the School of Architecture for the past 17 years. Mike currently serves as a Board member of the Cultural Facilities Support Program Board.
